The Controller’s Study – When creating this scene, I wanted the audience to feel a sense of discomfort and unease in response to the content unfolding on screen. The Controller’s Study was designed to encapsulate the elements of individuality, emotion, and cultural identity that have been removed from citizens within the utopian society of Brave New World in order to maintain passivity and emotional suppression. Through the composition of the space, I aimed to create an atmosphere that felt both oppressive and unsettling.
Manifest – When developing the title sequence for Manifest, I drew strong inspiration from influential title sequences such as To Kill a Mockingbird and the work of title designer Kyle Cooper. I designed two boxes to symbolise the two main characters and their personal identities, alongside a letter containing the truth behind the story’s darker underlying themes. Through this sequence, I wanted the audience to gain an understanding of the characters through the way they move and interact with their belongings, while also creating a sense of mystery and intrigue through the final shot of the letter being opened.
